The following is my address to the members of the Rotary Club of Philadelphia yesterday at the Pyramid Club of Philadelphia: Welcome everyone. I’m honored to serve as your club President. I thought I would share a few things about me that you may not know as well as my thoughts and aspirations about the upcoming year.

I’ve learned that it takes an incredible amount of work of many dedicated people to make a nonprofit organization function well and meet the needs of its mission. It is not easy. Some will say that nonprofits are “messy” by nature.
Read MoreI had the pleasure of attending the Rotary Club District 7450 Conference this past Saturday at the Springfield Country Club with a few hundred members. In keeping with this year's theme, "Be the inspiration," many inspirational speakers presented including 30 year-old Dakota Meyer, Medal of Honor Recipient and Author of the New York Times Best Seller, Into the Fire. Sergeant Meyer, who received his Medal from President Barack Obama, gave account of the extraordinary battle in Afghanistan where he helped his fallen Marine comrades.
